The Tonda Gentile Romana, a cultivar of Italian origin especially widespread in the Lazio region, has fruits of medium-large size. The Nocchione and Tonda di Giffoni cultivars can be used as pollinators. Its fruits are used industrially because they have good organoleptic qualities.
The Tonda Gentile Romana was granted Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status in 2009 under the name ‘Nocciola Romana’.
The harvest period runs from late August until late September. Its average shelling yield is 45-47%.
